Fun fact: last year I attended a burnout retreat to give my mind and body the opportunity to rest and recover from the barriers that affected my wellbeing.
I needed it so badly! It transformed my life. Since then, I’ve been helping others break free from their out burnout, helping them shed light on their wellbeing barriers. Why? Because I’m tired of the easy traps we trick ourselves into believing as fact! We find ourselves saying:
🗣 I can’t have a break, I’m falling behind.
🗣 I’m at full capacity, but I can’t say no to extra work.
🗣 I need a hand with this, but I don’t want to burden others.
Does any of that sound familiar? We take on too much, stretch ourselves too thin, and suffer serious repercussions from fatigue to chronic illness. Often, burnout is caused by good intentions for others and a lack of compassion for ourselves. But enough is enough!
What Does “Burnout” Mean?
In its simplest terms, burnout is a state of chronic physical and emotional exhaustion. You’re more than “tired”. It’s mainly caused by long-term exposure to high levels of stress and overwhelming demands. People who are burnt out often feel drained and depleted, don’t feel accomplished, and tend to be more cynical…about everything.
Have I struck a nerve yet?
If you’re feeling more than exhausted, cranky all the time, have a hard time concentrating, and no longer have an interest in the things you once loved doing – there’s a decent chance you’re suffering from burn out. And, you’re not alone. It turns out that 89% of workers have experienced burnout within the past year. And the burnout rate was at a whopping 59% in 2022. So what can you do about it?
Burnout is a Big Wellbeing Barrier
As the saying goes “admitting you have a problem is the first step on the road to recovery” and it rings true for burnout. You have to admit that you have a problem before you can overcome it. Burnout is a big barrier to your wellbeing and it can repeat itself in a never-end cycle if you don’t learn how to recover from it. Burnout will also affect every aspect of your life if you don’t heal from it and stop the cycle.
Breaking Your Wellbeing Barriers
There are so many things you could try to help you break down your wellbeing barriers and the chances are good that you’ve already tried many of them. You could read endless blogs and books that dictate what you need to do but won’t actually help with the process of healing your subconscious to repair your self-worth.
Maybe you’ve already watched 50 self-help videos on TikTok, YouTube, or Instagram but did they leave you with an understanding of what you need to do to restructure your life to eliminate the dysfunction? Did they teach you how to regulate your nervous system to ease stress? I didn’t think so.
You could do what I did and attend a burnout retreat. You’ll get hands-on training on how to recover from burnout, put up boundaries, heal your wellbeing, regulate your nervous system, and prevent the cycle from happening again and again. And, you’ll get to participate in activities that help you heal and give you time to rest and relax. When was the last time you actually relaxed without thinking about the 400 other things you should be doing instead of relaxing? Yeah, that’s what I thought. Consider this your formal invitation to join an intimate group of people who want to overcome the stumbling blocks that keep you all from expanding to your fullest potential. Spaces are limited.
